Flinders Island is an island off the coast of Tasmania, Australia populated by farmers, sheep and cows.
With a population of only 800, around 25 kids usually turn up to art classes during school holidays here. Recently Kitty flew there to teach stencil art workshops for the school holiday programs there, and filled 80 places, that’s 10% of the island learning to make stencil art! Stencil art allows kids to create art without having inherent drawing or painting ability, and can be taught to kids as young as 5 years old. We had two age groups 5-11 and 11-17.
We sent over 100 artworks out into the community with all the talented artists, and they held their own exhibition with artworks for sale afterwards. The photos speak for themselves.
